Meet the Team

Vanessa

Dr Vanessa has dreamt of being a vet for as far back as she can remember!

After she realized this dream in 1999 she developed a new dream – to own her own veterinary practice – a dream which became a reality with the opening of Happy Paws in October 2017!

She loves all aspects of general practice, so much so that even after 20 years in small animal practice she still loves talking about fleas! Her special interests include dentistry, soft tissue surgery and fostering the human-animal bond.

She lives in heaven (on the Gold Coast!) with her three non-furry children (Sebastian, Oscar and Darcy) and her furry children (Chicken and Noodle, the cats).

In her free time (ha, what’s that?!) she enjoys reading, watching The Block, pub lunches, and family time. She is looking forward to welcoming you and your fur babies to Happy Paws and getting to know you!

Dr Tiana

Meet Dr Tiana, our highly skilled and bubbly Veterinarian!

Dr Tiana graduated Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 2017 from James Cook University in Townsville.

Originally growing up on a farm in North QLD, she moved down to Victoria and worked as a mixed/dairy vet for 4 years before locuming around various parts of Australia for the last couple of years!

Tiana has gained many different and varied experiences throughout her locuming career but decided it was time to settle down in a permanent location and relocated back to the sunny Gold Coast.

She takes pride in nurturing special relationships with the clients and their fur babies, while creating a positive and fear free environment for all pets (and owners!).

Tiana recently completed an online course in Emergency Medicine which she has a special interest in.

Tiana is very bubbly and loves a good laugh! In her down time you will find her at the gym or soaking up the sunshine. She also loves to hike and go for long beach walks and you can’t forget about the coffee in her hand. She shares her household with two furry rascals named Bean and Floss.

Tiana is a highly valued team member due to caring nature and unwavering professionalism towards achieving positive outcomes as well as her willingness to always support fellow team members, clients and of course, their fur kids.

Ayana

Meet Ayana our amazing Practice Manager!

Ayana joined the Happy Paws team in 2020. With over 9 years’ experience as a Veterinary Nurse, she will also be taking care of your furry loved ones when she is not busy in the office. She is the clinic’s go-to Nurse for tricky blood collections and IV catheter placements!

Ayana was born in Japan and grew up on the Gold Coast from 6 years old. In her spare time, you will mainly find her at the beach soaking up the sun or being a couch potato with her Greyhound, Beanie. As she’s an early bird, you will also find her at the gym from 5am!

She recently completed her 3 year Leadership Mastery Course through the Lincoln Institute, to further support her role as the glue behind the scenes keeping our clinic operating smoothly and effectively. She enjoys being able to support and lead the team in reaching their full potential and takes pride in facilitating a healthy and happy working environment.

When you are visiting the clinic, you’ll find Ayana is hard to miss with her loud, cheerful and highly contagious laugh!

Chloe

Meet Chloe, one of our fabulous Veterinary Nurses.

Chloe has been with us since November 2021. Happy Paws was Chloe’s first stop after graduating Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in August 2021.

This brave soul isn’t one to shy away from the gross, dirty or smelly parts of this industry! With a super social personality, she loves chatting away and building strong relationships with our clients.

In her free time, Chloe loves going camping and taking her two Schmoodles, Wookie and Lacey, to the beach or cuddling up with her two furry mittens, Goose and Duck. A true lover of music concerts and going out for dinners and drinks with her friends.

We are always grateful for Chloe’s positive attitude, incredible work ethic, bubbly personality and truly contagious laughter.

Bobbi

Meet Bobbi, the new superstar Veterinary Nurse to join our Happy Paws team!

Bobbi graduated from Certificate IV in Veterinary Nurse in December 2023.

Straight after graduating, she spent 6 months on a thoroughbred stud farm, located in Scone, which is known as the horse capital of Australia!

Growing up, she volunteered at local vet clinics, wildlife sanctuaries as well as undertaking pet sitting to gain as much hands-on experience as possible working with animals. She also owned and managed a commercial cleaning business for 5 years!

In her free time, you may catch her running along the Gold Coast beaches, at the gym, working on her veggie garden or spending quality time with her family, friends and her two fur babies (Marnie the Maine Coon x and Rexy the Kelpie x).

Although she is still new to the industry, she is a fast learner and has already proven to be a valued team member who isn’t afraid of hard work and having a good laugh.

Come and say hello to Bobbi – her bubbly attitude, warm and caring nature will win you and your fur family over in no time!

Georgie

Meet Georgie, a vibrant addition to our team of exceptional Veterinary Nurses.

Originally from Canberra, she recently made the move to the sunny Gold Coast after a stint in Darwin, eager for new experiences. Georgie brings nearly 6 years of industry experience, having completed her Certificate II in Animal Studies and Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing at the Canberra Institute of Technology in 2019.

Specialising in consult nursing, Georgie is passionate about building trust and forging positive and caring relationships with her patients and their hooomans.  Her warm, outgoing personality shines through in her exceptional people skills, making her a favourite among clients and team members.

When Georgie isn’t in the clinic, she is likely to have her nose buried in a good book or can be found enjoying the outdoors embracing an active lifestyle, long walks along the beach and any opportunity to have a good catch up with friends.

Join us in welcoming Georgie to our Happy Paws family. With her wealth of knowledge, dedication, and infectious enthusiasm, you and your pet’s experience with Georgie is sure to be nothing short of excellent!

Nurse Holly

Nurse Holly complements our team with the addition of her 13 years’ experience working as a Veterinary Nurse.

Graduating from The Australian College of Veterinary Nursing with her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in March 2014, Holly has been specialising in General Practice and is passionate about animal advocacy. She enjoys all the many and varied aspects of nursing with a keen interest in surgical nursing.

When she’s not in clinic this Vet Nurse taps into a whole other set of skills and can be found in her shed with her partner and daughter tinkering with cars! Her current project? Restoring an old viscount caravan in preparation for some future family adventures!

With 3 fur babies of her own, Banjo the Dachshund, Aaliyah the German Shorthaired Pointer and Forrest the Burmese Cat, she understands the importance of delivering high standards of care and treating pets like the valued family members they are. Her vibrant and upbeat personality will draw you in and make you feel comfortable immediately. She cannot wait to chat with you and get to know you and your fur babies.

Taylor

Meet Tay our incredible Receptionist, the friendly voice on the other side the phone!

Tay is a Gold Coast local who has spent the past 13 years working within the office of the State’s oldest and largest not-for-profit animal welfare charity, the RSPCA QLD before joining our team in 2021.

There isn’t a moment in Tay’s life where she hasn’t been surrounded by animals and she was so excited to join a team of caring, compassionate and like-minded hoomans.

When Tay’s not at work falling head over paws in love with your fur babies, you might find her heading out into the rainforest, beach or curled up on the couch with her giant floof, ‘Luna’ a German Shepherd x Alaskan Malamute.

Tay looks forward to welcoming you to the clinic with a warm smile and positive energy ready to serve you and your fur babies ensuring the best experience possible.

Dr Felicity

Meet Dr Felicity, our newest Veterinarian to join the Happy Paws family!

Dr Felicity has been in the veterinary industry for over 5 years, graduating from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 2018 and has a keen interest in Dermatology.

She is the perfect fit for our clinic as she thoroughly enjoys making vet visits as comfortable and enjoyable for pets (and their hooomans) as possible!

We know you and your fur kids will love her caring, compassionate and open-minded nature.

When Felicity isn’t busy in clinic caring for your fur family, she has a pack all of her own who she loves spending time with; Teddy, the Jack Russell X, Milly, the domestic short hair kitty-cat and Oliver, the snuggle-bunny Labrador.

We are absolutely thrilled to have her join our team and we cannot wait for you all to meet her!

Dr Jess

Meet Dr Jess, one of our superstar senior Vets who has been with Happy Paws since it opened in 2017.

She graduated with honours degree in Bachelor of Veterinary Science from the University of Queensland in 2014. Dr Jess has a special interest in feline medicine, dentistry and ultrasound. She is also exceptional with making anxious or fearful pets feel comfortable.

Our New Zealand born Vet is very musically talented and is in the Gold Coast City Wind Orchestra where she plays the clarinet. If she is not at the gym or looking after tiny foster kittens from Cat Rescue Gold Coast and nursing them back to health, she is busy spoiling her two Domestic Shorthairs – the golden child ‘Toothless’ (named after the dragon from How To Train Your Dragon!) and the ruler of the house and foster fail from Cat Rescue Gold Coast ‘Flash’. She also has a non-furry pet ‘Homer’ a Stimpson Python.

Her brilliant skills and years of knowledge make her a fabulous member of our team!
