Is your pet microchipped?

Microchipping is compulsory for cats and dogs in Queensland. Rest assured, a microchip is very small, about the size of a grain of rice, and is simply injected under the skin of your fur baby, usually over the shoulder blade area. It has a unique code that is entered into an online national database, that stores important information, such as your name, address and telephone number.

If your pet is ever lost, a vet clinic or shelter can easily run a scanner over the back of their neck and retrieve the code, access the database, find your contact details and let you know your loved one has been found.

If you are unsure, or know your pet isn’t microchipped please contact us. We can arrange a scan, book you in for a microchip or point you in the direction of updating your contact details. Microchipping can be done while you wait, as part of a consult, vaccination or procedure.

Please note all puppies born after 26th May 2017 require a Breeder Identification Number (or equivalent) before we can legally microchip them. For more information on the new legislation please contact the clinic.
