Ok, so we now seem to be on the home stretch toward Christmas (don’t forget our tips on looking after your furbaby during the festive season). Once again October has been a hectic but wonderful month here at Happy Paws, your local Coombabah Veterinary Clinic. Btw, did you know that we are the preferred vet clinic for many doggos and kitties (and their hoomans) in local surrounding Gold Coast suburbs. So if you are looking for an Arundel vet, Runaway Bay vet, Paradise Point vet, Coomera vet, Labrador vet or Hope Island vet, we are just a short drive away.
We should also mention for all the kitty parents out there, that we have almost completed our clinic expansion to include a separate cat entrance and waiting room, two designated cat consultation rooms (we currently have one) and a hospital ward away from doggos.
Now back to this last month, we’ve welcomed plenty of regular and a newbie doggos and kitties and we share below a few of their stories. Our awesome Vet team put your pet first, always, and October has again been no exception. We are committed to treating you furbabies as the valued family members that they are. If you would like to chat with us about any pet care matters, we are here to listen, guide and assist. Introducing some of our recent the wonderful furry visitors and latest news.

Your fur baby’s meet & greet with Santa will be captured on camera by her wonderful little helpers & posted out to you in the following weeks. This is a free event, however, if you bring along a gold coin donation for one of our animal rescue groups (Cat Rescue Gold Coast and Boxer Rescue) you’ll go into the draw to win a super surprise present to put under the tree for your fur baby! We can’t wait to see you at Happy Paws Vet clinic then!!
Shorty
Silence is golden, unless you have a puppy. Then silence is suspicious, very, very suspicious. Shorty says, ‘if it fits, then I sits’ 😹
Spike
If you’re having a bad day then just look at this photo of 2.35kg, Pomeranian, Spike. If this little floofington face doesn’t cheer you up we don’t know what will! You’re welcome 🙂
Zippy ‘SupPAWt’
Oh sorry, were you going to sit here? When your fur sister visits the vet and you come along for moral supPAWt. Zippy shows us how well he and dad can sit and wait while fur sister, Ninja sees Dr Jess.
Gigi, Millie & Billy
The family album continues to grow. A big welcome to our newest furkids, Gigi, Billy and Millie 😍💙 We absolutely love being here to help make your first visits to our clinic a paw-sitive experience.
Anxious feline?
Does your frisky feline get anxious every time they’re due for a trip to the vet? Furrrrtunately, there are steps you can take to help make their expurrrience a little less stressful. Get your kitty-cat used to their pet carrier before their appointment with us by practicing putting them in the carrier for short periods of time.
You can also create a pawsitive association for them by sneaking a few treats into the carrier. We are always here to help, so feel free to chat with our friendly about calming medications and pheromone sprays that could help keep your cat calm for their next visit with us. Remember: Keep your cat calm and carrier on. Also see Nervous Nellies: Pet Anxiety explained.

The Power of a Positive Human–Animal Relationship
The relationship people have with their pets can absolutely have an impact on veterinary care. We completely understand that not every pet is as excited to come to the vet and particularly if they are not feeling 100%. We love being able to put in a little extra time and give a few extra cuddles to help make sure your fur baby is feeling as comfortable as possible during their time with us.
Kai + Halloween Tips
Kai the 84kg, Newfoundland is giving us his best ‘rare breed of lion’ impression … although he’s all about the cuddles!
Halloween is here, so to ensure you have a fa-BOO-lous Halloween, don’t forget to keep your treats safely stored away. Some of the foods we find delicious are toxic for our pets.
Steer your pet clear of chocolate, grapes, sultanas, onions, garlic and macadamia nuts, as they are all toxic foods for dogs.
If your pet does ingest something they shouldn’t, don’t wait, contact us straight away or if it is outside of our operating hours, contact (AES) Animal Emergency Services Carrara on (07) 5559 159
